What are Wild animals?
Wild animals are any non-domesticated species that live in the wild. They are usually hunted for food, fur, or sport. The term “wild” can be confusing as many animals live in their natural habitat and some domestic animals have been known to roam.
Some of the most unique and fascinating animals are those that are classified as wild. These animals live in the wild, free from human contact. These animals can be found anywhere from the ocean to prairies in North America.

Wild Animals Definitions
1. Tiger
In biology, a tiger is a large cat from the family Felidae. It has distinctive stripes on its body and usually at least one characteristic ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ tail. Tigers are meat eaters, with a preference for hunting larger animals, such as wild boar, deer, buffalo, and even other predators such as bears and leopards. The tiger’s coat is orange with black stripes, but white tigers also exist.
2. Lion
The lion is a large, four-legged mammal. It lives in Africa and Asia. A male lion is called a ‘lion’ while the female of the species is called a ‘lioness’. Cubs are baby lions. Lions can be found in savannas, grasslands, or even mountainous regions. In South Africa, they live in the savannas.
3. Snake
The word ‘snake’ is used to represent a slithering, legless reptile with a long, thin body and a narrow head. Snakes are one of the oldest creatures on Earth. In popular culture, snakes have been seen as malevolent creatures that live in dark, gloomy locations such as caves or swamps.
4. Whale
Whales are a type of mammal that lives in the ocean. They come from the order Cetacea along with dolphins and porpoises. There are two species of whales, baleen and toothed.
5. Shark
Sharks are a group of elasmobranch fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven-gill slits on the sides of the head, and pectoral fins that are not fused to the head. Modern sharks are classified within the clade Selachimorpha (or Selachii) and are the sister group to the rays.
6. Bear
A bear is an ursine mammal of the family Ursidae. Bears are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans, with the pinnipeds being their closest living relatives. Although there are only eight living species of bear, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Bears are found on the continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
7. Wolf
A wolf is a large, wild canine that usually lives with its pack in the woods. Wolves kill animals for food and can sometimes become people’s deadly enemies when they attack livestock or other animals on their way to feed with the pack. A person who preys upon others is also referred to as a wolf. The word wolf may also be used figuratively to describe a person who is very cruel or menacing.
8. Fox
The Fox has many definitions as to what the fox really is. But, in this day and age, most people believe that a Fox is a type of red-furred canine with pointy ears and a long bushy tail. However, some people say that there are different types of foxes such as silver or white foxes or brown foxes, and so on.
9. Crocodile
The crocodile is a large, carnivorous reptile that lives mainly in Africa and Asia. Unlike other reptiles such as snakes and lizards, crocodiles are found on four continents. Crocodiles share many of the same anatomical features as dinosaurs. They have an armored belly that supports their weight out of the water also they have hard scales that are not related to the feathers on birds. The crocodile’s jaw can extend far out allowing them to grab prey with their teeth. Crocodiles generally prey on fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. They usually lie still in wait for their prey before attacking with speed and force.
10. Gorilla
The gorilla is an ape that lives in the jungle. It eats leaves and fruit. There are two species of gorillas living today, the eastern lowland gorilla and the mountain gorilla. The gorilla’s arms are longer than its legs, so it walks on all fours. A male adult mountain gorilla weighs over 200 pounds. Gorillas have large heads and very strong jaws.
